Strong Is The New Skinny

7 Jan

When you feel good, you look good.  And when you look good, you feel good.  You don’t need to have huge muscles to be strong (as evidenced by so many beautiful fit women in an array of sports and activities), but I personally think that you need to be strong to be sexy.  We have to start re-evaluating our idea of beauty; nothing would make me happier than to see the models on magazine covers go from being skinny-little-things, to strong, active, glowing women.

Allison Stokke, Pole Vaulter

Louise Sattler, Yoga Instructor (Ottawa)

Serena Williams, Pro Tennis player

Jenna Ladd, Marathon Runner (Ottawa)

Melanie Moore, Dancer

Jessica Biel, my favourite fit celebrity

I completely agree that strong should be the new skinny. It is healthy, and lets be honest, most women of the world are not a size zero, myself included.

I too am working out to become strong – starting my journey to compete in Fitness Competitions, well Figure is what it is specifically called.

Good luck to you! And, preach more about this!

(Tess) Good luck Alyssa! It’s people like you and other figure/fitness competitors who will eventually change the minds of the general public about what real beauty is, and what a woman’s full capabilities really are.
